In his role as Director, Product Development, Joey Zhou leads product innovation for RGA in the Southeast Asia markets. In addition to product development, his areas of expertise include reinsurance pricing and research, customer needs research, insurance pricing and valuation, and distribution compensation. Prior to joining RGA in 2017, Joey served as Senior Pricing Actuary with a large multinational reinsurer based in Singapore. He also has experience with a direct insurer, having served as the head of the pricing team for Manulife Singapore and, later, as a project actuary for the company. In that role, he provided actuarial and finance engagement to strategic projects, such as setting up the Manulife Financial Advisory entity, reforming the agency compensation scheme, and optimizing the capital efficiency of the Universal Life portfolio with reinsurers, among other responsibilities. Joey received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Melbourne, and an M.B.A. from National University of Singapore. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA), and a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM). Joey is active within the Singapore Actuarial Society where he has served as a council member since 2014.
